KRAFTWERK,

It's a close-up of Julia set near a dust seed, e.g.: (0.7,0.297,0). But the actual function escapes me. I've been playing a lot with functions of the form: x' = x*x-y*y; y'=2*x*y; z'=f(z). The idea is that (X,Y) are conformal, and Z is perpendicular, so the whole 3-D function is almost conformal, with spheres mapping to unbounded ellipses.
As you dial up the iteration count, you get deeper spirals, but lose the outer rings.
