Description: Mandelbrot set, no layers, no post-work

This is a location in the original mandelbrot set z = z^2 + c, rendered in fractal extreme and the colors are based on the escapetime of the coordinates just as usual. The gradient, though, is complex and finetuned to extreme detail, which does everything here. You can see how the gradient repeats if you look closely at one of the largest spirals.

I'm not sure if this location has already been discovered but as long as there's no 3d mandelbrot set, there sure is more than enough to explore in the classic 2d set. Sometimes I dream of what I could do if my computer was 1000 times faster. We're only just becoming slightly capable of exploring depths and high-density locations that were not possible to render before.

That is really lovely.  The detail is amazing. I only wish my own PC or Laptop were faster, so I could spend less time waiting on these deep zooms.
