Thank you kameelian! But I think you've made the best choice of color for your image and it's less a question of "naturalness" than homogeneity. The colors just have to match the content.

Hmmm, I like this one.

At first, I thought it is not too unlike my own - here:

...except that when I see yours alongside, it makes mine look even less 'natural' than I thought it was.

great job.

Thank you KRAFTWERK for your praise. It's like a fresh breeze ... smiley

You want a making off, Pangaea? Hmmm ... ok, I try it. But first of all I have to say that most of the work was intuitive (you know .. the more you want, the less you have) - what's not too bad - because if you don't know what you do, there is a good chance to surprise yourself. grin

But in this case the output of M3D was pretty sad. So i HAD to do some (you're right) photoshop. After some brightness/contrast the result was everything but satisfying because the textures got really hard in some parts. So I said well ... let's try the bloom. This is a pretty simple trick. You copy the layer, blur it and set the layer blend-mode to screen. This rubbed off all the hard textures and gave it that transfigured touch. And after that I thought *sh...* ... DoF would .. no .. MUST get in. But calculating it in this big picture now (i had it still open) without testing it out at lower resolution? No. So .. give me the Z-Map please. In PS i used gradients on this, just picked the front to white and started lens blur. The interesting thing about this is that i used it "under" the non-DoF-bloom-layer, what made the whole depths without blooming the background to much. After that i had to reduce the reds a bit. That's all.

But the really interesting thing - and i don't know how it came to this - is the translucence effect in some parts. If you look at the single leaf in the upper right corner for example ... it looks like illuminated from behind. But please don't ask me. Btw it would be great if there's an option for that one day.

Another thing that's maybe interesting is the histogram. Check out the pattern. This might be the reason why all my efforts have worked so well.

this is rather sublime...  im curious how you got the colours so vibrant, and how did you achieve the bloom effect?  ps?
