The Making of a Mandelbulb Ring Collection
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: 3D printed mandelrings by Fractal Mathematics in collaboration with Johan Andersson.

From Idea in Mandelbulb 3D via Fiji, Meshlab, Netfabb, Sculptris and Shapeways to your fingers.

During the last months I heve tried out many ideas in different materials and these are the ones I like the most.

And if you feel like visiting my shop at Shapeways the link is probably still left in Nahee Enterprises quote second to the bottom of the replies below...  afro

I know this is inappropriate... when will we see the first mandelbulb dildo and mandelgina? for when the mandel marriage hits monotony?

Have you thought about painting one in 2 colors to let the minibulbs pop out? With a good magnifying glass and a lot of patience cheesy

Louis: "The semi transparent one is my favorite I think"

I have just polished that one and it got even more transparent... Problem with the "Transparent detail" material is that it doesn't give as nice details as the "Frosted detail" but I think I will order some of the other models in it anyway, It would be nice to paint the surface and polish the inside I think... It would let you see the bulbs inside trough the band.

@ RedBug, not sure if you are being serious or sarcastic because of the dark image  smiley, and I can tell you it is even more black in reality, and very beautiful, sucking in all light in its fractal surface... if you want to see the shape of it:

And thank you Egress! I have more models (no more mandelbulbs for a while though) in process...

They all look cool to me Johan, as for promoting them, why not, they are every bit as viable as any of your masterworks. I for one appreciate you're persistance in testing and trying them.......
My hats off to you....and don't take any negativity to heart

Secondly, though this is an interesting "novelty", I think your obsession with these rings might be blinding you to their truth worth.   I seriously doubt there will ever be enough of a market for fractal rings to make it worthwhile.

Sounds like something been said to the early impressionistic artist when they laid the cornerstone of modern art.You never know...it's art after all. wink

Thanks for the support Guys!

I have removed the link in my post, maybe you should remove it from your comment too Paul?

And for the blurred image, I know, but the images around it are sharp, nothing will be sorted out!  fiery

First of all, I would say that this is not really the correct area for promoting your commercial sales!!!   fiery
You should be posting such things within the special sub-Board at:  http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?board=56.0

Hi Johan,

Please don't get me wrong, I am a huge admirer of your amazing artworks, but I think the quality of the photos here, is doing you an injustice. Especially the main image which, to me, is blurred/out of focus.

Sort it out!  fiery
