I recently started using Apophysis again when i got my new processor installed and working (Intel Core 2 Duo E6600).  I decided i'd give it a whirl and do some new fractals.  It performs really well, but makes me wish that Apophysis was multi-threaded.

heya bemasher, welcome to the forums eh smiley

you've just become my new guinnea pig with that rocking c2d 6600. how much memory do you have? my 2d fractal app is heavily multithreaded (and 64bit optimised), though not in the versions i've released online. also, a while ago i did some optimisation to allow for more realtime visualisation (though there's still a speedup of ~4 to be found) to allow for interactive exploration of the parameter space... anyway if you'd like to test the version i have released, it's at http://www.fractographer.com/binaries/hm.0.3.p-m.zip and if you'd like to test my multithreaded and/or 64bit version be sure to let me know wink

looking forward to more of your work on the forums; the spirals you posted are nicely coloured btw!

I'd be happy to try out your fractal explorer. However the 64-bit version won't do me any good unless i have a 64-bit OS. Which i don't currently have and if i were to move to 64-bit it'd be with linux. But i'd be willing to try it out if it were multi-threaded, i'm interested to see how it performs.

As for system specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
Intel DLP965LT
1GB (2x 512MB) DDR2 667Mhz
2x 250GB Seagate Barricuda SATAII
BFG Tech Geforce 7600GT
2x Samsung Syncmaster 730B 17" LCD

I'm messing with your program as we speak and i'm impressed so far. I like how the interface is non-existant, it gets rid of a lot of guess work as to what each feature will do. As a suggestion you might consider adding a side-bar with information about the current fractal and listing key's and their actions.
