I'm getting the hang of this. I've automated the camera placement for the right and left eye views, so that helps.

The really surprising thing is how much clearer the fractal looks with the stereo viewing. This pair is a good example, normally I would have deleted the image, in 2D it just looks blury.

But together the pair viewed as a stereo image becomes very interesting.

keep your head a good distance from the screen, and then cross your eyes (as you would look with 100 less iq points Wink). if you have difficulty with the latter part, focus both eyes on the tip of your finger, and then slowly move it away...

Yes,

I'm anxious to do an animation as soon as possible.

(It's just so hard to stop experimenting long enough to render an animation  Tongue )

This one is a little bigger.
I don't know how big is too big for the cross eyed effect to work?
Disclaimer: I also DON'T KNOW if viewing these can strain your eyes, view them at your own risk.  Huh
I guess I should read up on it a bit.

pixel dimensions don't give a size in centimetres (or feet and toes and whatallelse you americans use Wink), and even if they did you can adjust your viewing distance.

my screen resolution is 1440x900 in this laptop, 1920x1200 on my main computer screen, so it's more about pixel density than anything else.

the link i provided says the author has been doing it for years and his vision hasn't been impaired. as a cynic, i'm inclined to ask the related question, "how do you know when you're going mad?", but let's take his word for it Wink certainly i find in uncomfortable to keep my eyes crossed, besides which i'd hate to be caught doing it!

btw, i'm no longer getting emailed about replies Sad

I'm not sure what you mean?
The forum was emailing you when someone replied to one of your posts?

This one is another example of an image that looks like crap until you get the cross eyed view to work.
I hope everyone can see this the way I'm seeing it!

I turned on refraction to see what would happen with the stereo viewing.
(the actual fractal, and coloring aren't that good, but....)

This is SO COOL!
Especially to watch a new flame as it's being rendered.

Please let me know if you see the glassy regions in the stereo view.

i was indeed, then wasn't, and am again now (??). i usually check ff here anyway, so it's not that big a deal: http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=recent

btw, those refracted parts in your latest pic do indeed produce interesting fx, neato!

This one is to big to see within the forum context, so here's a link to the original
