I did a little cheating with this and removed the "Evaluation Copy" tags XD ;..; it doesn't work all the time though, I got lucky with this one

Not to worry, sometimes trying to find an appropriate name becomes an elusive search.

Which is why so many of the long time (older) fractalists started numbering and/or dating their images, it just became easier than trying to come up with a new "name", especially after creating several thousand images over the years.

BTW, enjoyed the "Vortex" and "Spine" images.    cheesy

I always name them - that way I remember the image just from the name - if I used dates then I couldn't do that.

I always name them - that way I remember the image just from the name - if I used dates then I couldn't do that.

And as you well know, this discussion (argument) has also been whipped to death over the years.  Some people prefer coming up with something as a "name", and others prefer a quick number and/or date for their images.  There have been (and still are) several well known fractalists that rarely use "names" for their images.  And others that have created "Fractals Of The Day" for so long that now they are repeating "names" over again, because they are running out of new names to come up with.

Though the majority of mine are numbered, I occasionally will "name" one, that is because I want the viewer to see exactly what I want them to.  But most times, I prefer that they see whatever they choose to see in the image, without having a "name" that leads them in a specific direction.  And I enjoy hearing back from them when they see something I had never thought of, because they tell me what they would have named a particular image.

Anyway, to each his own when it comes to naming.  There are positive and negative aspects both ways.    wink

I began by naming images, but soon had too many and started using date+lettercode+number.  name could apply to too many different images and variations thereof. The letter code tells me (ususally, except when I goof up a little) which series the file belongs to - it changes when I change major parameters.  My dating system underwent some changes then, now I use year first and always three place numbers. Sometimes, if an image is very special, I tack on a nametag at the end so I can find it faster. Otherwise, I just browse with IrfanView's thumbnail browser to pick one out. It helps that Fractal Explorer has a file browser/previewer and saves image and spotfile  at once. My files are sorted by year and month. Some months have few, some need multiple directories so I don't scroll two miles 8-o Anyway, it works for me wink
