Hello all   smiley
Been toying around in Mandelbulb 3d for some time while learning more about complex analysis, but have found the rendering to be a bit slow for my taste and also wanted more code options. My PC has a good graphics card so after looking around these forums I saw that fragmentarium is a good option for me since it can run on the graphics processor.

My computer has a nvidia GTX1050 which has the driver including openGL 4.5. I have confirmed that this is the openGL version via the program GpuTest 7.0.

However when I try running fragmentarium with my dedicated graphics, it stops responding only a few seconds after launch.  Fragmentarium works fine running on integrated graphics but isn't as high performance as I would like.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated  wink

Hi, it should run fine on GTX1050
do you compile from source or use the online exe installer ?

I have not compiled it from source yet, which would make sense.
Visual Studio would be a good option to build it in I imagine (on windows), so I'll give that a go and report back

It's set up for MinGW 4.91 gcc compiler, you have to install Qt 5.4 libraries and development environment, it includes an option to install MinGW 4.91 as well. You will also need CMake from cmake.org, once this is setup and working the script mkmingw.bat will compile everything and create a Fragmentarium dist folder with the executable and all the files required to run it.
get it here https://www.qt.io/download-open-source/

I haven't compiled it with Visual Studio. sad

for windows version, using the online installer you should select the Fragmentarium program that has nv-exr in the name, this one uses GL4+ functions and can read/write OpenEXR format images, the ones with nonv in the name are for older machines, this could be the source of your problem. I suggest trying this first unless you are very familiar with the VS environment.

Thanks for the advice 3dickulus smiley   I really appreciate your time and the work you've put into fragmentarium.  I used the windows installer for your Fragmentarium v1.0.30 (nv-exr), which works when launched with integrated graphics but has same problem of immediately not responding when run on dedicated graphics.

If you could send me the source code for your version would much appreciate it  cheesy

You can find the source on my website, I'll post you a link.
I will eventually add the source to the repo so it's accessible with the installer under developer or something.
