Hi there,

it's been a very long time since I posted on here, and its about time I got back into trying to make some fractals.

I want to create some images etc on my mac, and I've picked mandelbulber as my weapon.

However I'm stuck on the first step!

in the installation instructions it states I need to set up some folders first, however I can't see how to do this.

here is my screen shot:



where are the option to select the folder structure etc as seen in this tutorial? http://wiki.mandelbulber.com/index.php?title=User_Manual#General_buttons

have I picked the right software to use on a mac?

any help appreciated!

You picked the right version for the software, but the wrong version for the tutorial/docs. I think most of the documentation and tutorials for Mandelbulber v2 still have to be created and/or completed.

Most options and functions are still there though. Locations and layout did change, so a quick look around should be doable.

What happens when you just hit the "Render" button on the upper right part of the window?

Locate your .dmg file, double-click the file to open it. You should see it mounting as if a cd is inserted. Finder will show you the mounting folder containing also a script called install.
Don't forget that first you will need to run the script.
That script will copy some files needed for mandelbulber to work properly.

thanks for the replies so far.

I did follow the instructions with regards to the install script first.

First time I installed it failed on start up - using the install script first worked.

If I do click render I do get an image, I was just concerned that I was missing a lot of configuration options.

Are they not needed?

Try temporarily downloading and installing the previous release http://sourceforge.net/projects/mandelbulber/files/Mandelbulber-mac-1.16-64bit.pkg/download  hurt

I've tried the previous installer as requested and can confirm that this does have all the options available

no idea how to use it, but here comes the fun!
