Fractal Imaginator (Fi) is an interesting software program due to the creation of a .fim file (with only fractal parameter data)  besides the wanted .bmp, .png or .jpg file.

Data-files

Using the program Fi you can input your own mathematical formulas and other relevant data. The created images are saved as bmp/jpg/png files or obj/stl/pov files. The image parameters are stored in separated data-files (.fim files). This way of storing  saves much computer capacity.

After purchasing and installation of Fi on your own computer the Fi program will be automatically loaded and started by clicking the fim files on the internet page www.fractal.org (just like Adobe pdf files).

It is a unique construction, made by Terry W. Gintz. No other fractal programs do have this feature.

Yes, Terry W. Gintz has produced several programs over the years.  And I am glad to say that I have used at least two dozen of his various fractal generators (not to mention being a beta tester at times for some of those).  Though I have used Fractal Zplot for quite a long time, and it is probably the most well known, I have to say that QuaSZ is still my favorite of them all.

For those interested in these programs, try going here:  http://www.mysticfractal.com/

Did you also use the Fractal Imaginator for creating the Julius Ruis set?

My question to Paul N. Lee is if you use the Fractal Imaginator (Fi)  or are you not interested in new software?

If Terry wishes me to try out this particular program of his, then I would be glad to use it and see what all it can do.  I can include it with the over two dozen of his programs that I already have.  I try many new software applications that are available to me as downloads.     Smiley

And my question to you is, how many of Terry's programs have you used??  For that matter, how many total fractal programs have you ever used that are available (new or old)??

Dear Paul,

I am so sorry that you do not want a serious discussion about the content of the Fi software.

I told this Forum about the specific features of Fi (Julius Ruis Set, zooming in and zooming out possibilities and the creation of the additonal .fim files, that are very efficient for transport and communication of fractal data). So please let us talk about 'Quality' i.s.o. 'Quantity'.

Personally, I find it difficult to discuss "Quality" between various fractal related applications until I have tried as many as I can.  As the "Quantity" of programs I use increases, then I can actually discuss the matter in a more intelligent manner, since I will have something to compare against.

For instance, if an individual had only eaten five different types of fruit in the whole world, how could they ever be able to say which fruit, from all that exist, is the one with "Quality" ??  They only have a limited knowledge when it comes to discussing the topic of fruit.

The same goes for fractal software.  Until one tries at least a majority of the programs available, how can they adequately discuss the matter??

Dear Paul,

You are the moderator of this site; not me.

So please stop your arrogant attitude and help me!

With kind regards,
Jules Ruis.

I am only speaking from many years of experience, using hundreds of software programs.  I have answered your questions, but you have refused to answer mine.

What exactly are you having problems with that you need my help with??

Is there some aspect of that program that you do not understand and I can assist you with??

Do you not know how to use the Fractal Imaginator application??

What exactly should I be helping you with??

i really don't like to get involved in matters like these, but really, paul wasn't being arrogant at all; his point about quality being a relative measure is perfectly clear, and not even orthogonal to the discussion of the fractal imaginator app - he was simply stating that he's used some of gintz's software before and liked it.

to call him arrogant, when in fact what you so humbly call the "julius ruis" set has been around for ages and is known by almost all fractalists (that the mbrot set is a kind of index into the julia sets), is simply out of place.

Dear Paul,

My only question was to give your opinion about the .fim construction of the Fractal Imaginator (Fi), because it is an unique feature, of great importance for transport and communication of fractal  images, one of the targets of this Fractal Forum (as far as I have understood).

BTW

Not the name of the julius Ruis set is important, but its presentation, maybe not for artists, but for scientific research of all kind of formulars of polynomials and transcendental functions.
