This is my review of the 2d fractals: 1st Place"Hikers Beware", Fractal KenVery arty, you are the man! Overall winner, best in 2d fractals for my pleasure. 2nd Place"Royal Pillow", juliomacOne of my favourites, very fancy but minimalistic, good job! 3rd Place"Julia flowers", Fractistbeautiful, you can earn money with those images 4th Place"Vampire's Dream", IlionstarZoom in mf! You probably lost the third or second place. I have to check this formula out 5th Place"Carnevale di Arlecchino", DarkBeamArty, nice wall picture, good work last but not least:"20110401-1", s31415Can i have a shirt with such clothes!? Nice patterns "Blackwater Buds", MTE"Tree of Life", MTE"Sea Anemones", MTEintresting drawing method but base formula is too boring for me - good work anyway "Moonlight Over the Lotus Pond", Fractistgood work, sweet "The Imminent Assault on a Four Leaf Clover by the Tentacles of Hell", Madmancool "Hibiscus", The Revwonderful classic "Games of Chance", Fractal Kentoo much detail for my pleasure, nice formula "Femtobrot", PauldelbrotA royal mandelbrot, nice colors, good work "FractMask", natarajafunny "Scenic Ascent", Fractal Kenthis one makes me dizzy, this is too much hard core for me but good work, again "1st. Interactive Fractal", Tabasco RaremasterPhilosophical stuff, good image for fractal addicted "Variations VI", _db_Arty, but to much recurrence for my pleasure
Missing Fractals of Kali here, he deserved 2nd place in my opinion, he had done good job on exploring new nice fractals! I missed to post my own contribution, im still polish up my own rendering app and still looking for "my own really nice and unique" fractal variation. Maybe next time

@ Johan ; Knowing how much you needed this new mug because you are tired of drinking warm instead of hot coffee to avoid your hands being burned again,it`s fair enough we can expect some work even more amazing out of your , free , hands next year and I bet that both Christian and Margit do not mind at all that your entry was not some 3.3 Gigazillionmegaterraflops sized image because that takes a swimmingpool to print it on ;-)

"1st. Interactive Fractal", Tabasco Raremaster Philosophical stuff, good image for fractal addicted Thanks yv3 , I hope you had a good laugh about it too. Since white contains all "the colors of infinity" , the interactive fractal contains almost every existing image ánd every one of those that still has to be created.

Hey, many thanks! "Kaliset" formula and derived came out just after the submitting period ended I think the results are fair if we count only the visual artistic aspect of the images, wich is just right because is indeed a fractal art contest. Here the visual "awesomeness factor" of the image has the votes, and there are a lot of artists here who really knows how to make beatiful pieces of amazing art, not only counting the "fractal" aspect, but coloring, lighting, angle and scene selection, and general mastering of the tools used. I was thinking a time ago if such thing as a "researchers competition" or maybe a "formula competition" can be made... also the best software releases of the year could be awarded. (Even when I think Mandelbulb3D and Mandelbulber will be always on the first places ) But it's difficult because this needs a qualified jury, cause not everybody is able to vote who was the best "fractal researcher" of the year, or the best formula or innovation discovered. The benefit of this is to give more recognition to who made most of the amazing images of the fractal art competition possible: researchers & programmers... and also encouraging more people to work on this. I don't know if it could be possible to made here, I talked with Christian about this once but I understand he's already busy and making a good effort running this forum and current competitions, so I don't know, I just wanted to share this idea I have.

last year it was traffassel who got the fractal nobel prize 2010 I know about traffasel and his wonderful work, and the discovery of "inside renderings" that added a new perspective to 3D fractals, specially to the box... also he use his own software Gestaltlupe, something that I use all the time, mainly for trying new ideas and researching because you can write your own formulas with it. But... Wasn't Tglad's Mandelbox came out on early 2010? I wan't here at that time, just asking. Also he did a very nice work on fractal classification. Knighty's KIFS are very remarkable too... As I said before, is something really difficult to judge! But if you ask me... 1. Tglad - 2. Trafassel - 3. Knighty

It would be a great idea to have a "Best formula of the year" contest... That would work, wouldn't it? @Tabasco: I know you told me... And yes, I was in urgent need for a mug... actually only a Fractal WASP TROLL mug would do... I had arranged to buy one from myself on DA because I really didn't believe I would win, there were so many great submissions this year. I'll make a 3.3 GigPix version as soon as Jesse makes the "tiling render" function in MB3D. And thank you GFWorld for sponsoring the preccccious prizes! @Ross: Thank you for your nice words, and for your beautiful 2D:s! @Fitz: Do not give up, I know how you feel, I was feeling like you last year, your Hanuman is great... And remember it is not "the best" image that wins, it is just the one that gets most votes... @Lenord: I agree, this place is the place to be, so much inspiring renders and ideas... @Madman: Thanks, so do yours! @LMarkoya: Thanks a lot my friend. Glad you like it! @LhoghoNurbs and Transdimensional: Well spoken! @Kali: I know you told me... I didn't believe you though... Thanks!!! *

Thank you very much Margit!
I had proposed to Christian to contribute to the winner's prizes before the contest, but it seems my note went through the cracks. Then after I won, I proposed him again to contribute (in other words to pay for my own mug!) but he refused!! So thank you very much again for your generosity, I will donate to FF for the next site update!
