Description: Stills are saved in images after rendering Q; but not animations

When you render a still in the queue, it saves a .fract file along with the pic in whatever folder you designate in settings (User/Mandelbulber/Images by default). I ran several test animations the other day by using the same keyframes but changing out the formulas and put them all in the queue. They ran overnight and the next day, and I thought they'd leave a fract file in the image folder like the stills when they were done. So I didn't even keep track of what formulas and what combos of formulas I was using. The next day there were 7 short animations rendered, and I had no idea what formula did what. None of the animation files saved when they rendered.

Could we have animations also save in the folder, and not just the stills, please? Thanks!

makes sense to me.

I dont know, why we havent put the fract file in target location for flight / animation in the first place.
I opened this as an issue on github:
https://github.com/buddhi1980/mandelbulber2/issues/289

should be present in next next release.

I tried to post a new topic but I got that silly "hacking attempt" warning, which means the forum machines hate me.

Here's another issue that I'd love to see implemented, if possible: Server Host info in Netrender Client info screen

In the Netrender Client info screen, we can see all the clients that are joined into the network, their IP addresses, number of cores, status and lines rendered. I watch this screen all the time to check if one of the clients have crashed and need to be reset, and to make sure that all the clients have joined and are working.

However, I don't get any info about the machine that is hosting the render, the server machine. In my case, it's my most powerful chip of the render farm (16-thread, 8-core I7 5960X chip), but I never know how many lines it has done versus the clients.

Could we add a line in the Netrender Client info screen that would give the server machine info as well, please? The server can also do a significant amount of lines rendered but there's no way to see how many lines it's done, unless you manually add up all the lines done by the client and subtract from the total. It would show the same info as the clients, but maybe be set off or labled as the server  info, as opposed to the client info.

Is that doable and worth doing? Cheers, and thanks so much for all the improvements!

That doesn't mean it hates you, it means it loves you so much it wants to protect this forum from hackers!

If I may, I'll guess that your topic had an apostrophe in the subject line - correct?

This forum is running on very old and outdated forum software.  The ' character is actually used in a number of php exploits and is not allowed in subject lines of posts, threads, or private messages.

Upgrading the forum is in the works, and this issue  (plus many others!)  will go away.

Hi paigan,

we will put the machine name of the server into the client, as soon as connection is established, i just implemented this in the protocol.
to put rendering data of the server into the list next to the clients can be harder to implement (is not that straight forward).

BTW: The machine running the server can be really low profile. My setup is to use one small machine
and set the File > Program settings > max number of cpu cores to 1.
This way the servers only purpose is to gather the lines from the clients, stitch them together and save them to the filesystem.
The clients should be CPU cows with as much cores as possible.

Are you using the CLI to setup the clients?

Hi, Zebastian!

1st: what is the "CLI"? I set up the clients via Remote Desktop just by running an instance of Mandelbulber in each with the host name typed in on the Netrender  pane, make sure they're all on the same port (usually default 5555) and hit connect. Is there another way? [Edits: Apparently that means "command line interface," and you were asking me if I use the command prompt. No, just the Windows GUI to load each client within Windows 10 Enterprise and Server 2012.)]

2nd: If you're using lots of DOF, then it takes some CPU power to do the focus blur, and that's done entirely on the host machine. When an object comes close and the blur is very strong, it can sometimes take even a minute for the supercomputer to process. I'd think that would take forever on a 1-core, tiny server.

took some time, but server name is finally available in client gui. You will see this in the next release.
putting animation settings fileto target folder when running queue is still open...
