Hate to be a bother but something else has now gone wrong with the servers.
For the past day or so, the banner at the top of the page, normally a rotation of several hundred beautiful banners submitted by our members, have been failing to load about 50% of the time.
About half the time I've viewed a page here today and yesterday, a random FractalForums banner has appeared at the top of the page as usual, but about half the time that area has simply remained blank, with a rectangle of blue background there where the banner is supposed to appear but no banner. There's also no "Logo by Name - Contribute your own Logo!" line in that area when the banner fails to load, so it's not just the image itself failing to load (nor is it that some joker put a bunch of 1x1 or completely-transparent banners in to the rotation).
The entire rest of the page below the banner area appears to load correctly and normally, though, so this problem is largely cosmetic.
I say "largely" because a page with a missing banner doesn't really advertise itself as a "FractalForums.com" page; also, the banners are one way for members' work to be showcased, a way that is no longer working reliably as of some time yesterday.
Attached is a screenshot showing an instance of the banner being missing. The page was done loading, as indicated by Firefox, when the screenshot was taken. Upgrading from Firefox 11 to Firefox 12 did not make the site render correctly. I'm fairly sure the problem is server-side.

it is a silent test from me to include an affiliate banner, this is a test and will last at least 2 weeks ... you have ad-blocking enabled, so no ads for you

I think cKleinhuis is right, if you can't see something there you must have it blocked somehow. I see banners sometimes and ads sometimes in Safari or Firefox.

You got what Christian said wrong. He's running an ad banner mixed with the regular banners. So the regular site banners not showing half the time is indeed right. You will either see ads (if your browser settings allow it) or nothing (if browser is blocking the ad). Thanks for saying something though. If it were indeed a problem. reporting such things is always welcome.

You got what Christian said wrong. I don't think so. He's running an ad banner mixed with the regular banners. So the regular site banners not showing half the time is indeed right. The regular site banners should always be showing, either alone or in addition to an ad. Web pages should always have the site logo in the top left corner as a general rule, and the ones here have been no exception in the past.

The regular site banners should always be showing, either alone or in addition to an ad. Web pages should always have the site logo in the top left corner as a general rule... Wrong Again! What appears in the upper corner is not subject to what you think. This was an INTENTIONAL change. This "rule" of which you speak is not a rule at all. It is merely common practice. Nothing is wrong. Just deal with it.

Wrong Again! Yes, you are indeed. The site's logo should always appear at the top of the page.

Yesterday I had 100% beautiful girls who wanted to date me in the banner . Today I have 50% boring ads and 50% good ole banners. Can we switch back to yesterday??

Sadly, it seems that beautiful girls don't want to date geeks in general. Sports jocks, yes. Those glib-talking MBA types that are likely to have the fancy and upper-management job, or else end up as politicians, yes. Geeks? No.
