Actually, if you live from what you do, you are in the way for a better living, and that is ethics.
And you are not supporting evil by using pirate stuff, you are just not supporting the artists that actually made the work. And, guess what, if you buy the stuff, you are supporting - if they get lucky - 10% of the artist work. That is the real evil.
Is being out of topic an unethical evil thing?
Look kid, since it appears your ignorance is exceeded only by your arrogance, I will attempt to Educate you.
You seem to equate facebook and social media with a better life. That is pure folly, barely worthy of a reply, but I'll do so anyhow.
...
No I wont. If you can't see the absurdity of that all by yourself, nothing I say will convince you otherwise.
Your so-called ethics seem centered around personal gain and "a better life" - but that better life is for you and only you. If it makes your life better by hurting others, you seem insensitive to that harm because you gain from it in the end.
As for not supporting Evil by pirating stuff - you are fooling yourself. Who do you think gets all the money generated by illegal downloads? They make a lot of money by using file hosts who pay for each download, and the beneficiaries are all criminals - some are mere copyright violators, others are actually terrorists. The argument that torrents do not do that is equally ignorant. The sites which host their "Torrent Trackers" generate money from traffic. Many advertisers use the traffic to analyze what people are posting and reading, google ad-words being a prime example. And that does not even mention the viruses spread by a small percentage of pirates, viruses which are Definitely Evil and create those armies of zombie computers which are used in mass denial of service attacks.
Pirating online DOES support Evil. Believing otherwise is simply willful ignorance.
I fight piracy as part of my online work, and know for a fact that google ad-words and other revenue generating advertising tools are found on many pirate sites.
And the people I work for are independent producers of short film clips which they sell for a living. They are proof that you are DEAD WRONG about not hurting the Artists. They are burdened with all production costs, promotion of clips, and sales of clips, plus every other aspect of making their living this way. It is proven that when a new clip comes out it sells well right up to the point it hits the pirate market. Then sales plummet. So by keeping their content out of the hands of pirates as long as possible they do much better.
I find it Terribly Offensive when people assume that stealing is OK and try to justify it by saying that they are only stealing a little bit. You said 10% at most goes to the Artists. GIVE ME 10% OF YOUR INCOME!! NOW!!
See? Not so trivial anymore is it? In actuality, the losses often far exceed 10% depending on circumstances.
You've already said that you can't be bothered to read a user agreement, but all the sites you love reserve the right to steal your work. If I mailed you an image for your little contest, you would be forbidden by me to re-post it on facebook because they would then have the right to use it however they see fit.
Have they done so yet? I don't care! It does not matter. What matters is they reserve the right to do so. And
that is EVIL.
