join the event on Facebook.

Well, that leaves me out!

Many others too.

Is this your contest?  If so, remember how many people shun facebook and avoid it like the plague that it is!

Allowing entries on less evil sites would greatly expand the number of entrants   afro

The facebook event is just to facilitate the process.
Please read the regulation, it says you don't need a facebook account to participate!
It doesn't leave anybody out, and it would be truly unfair if it did.

You are making affirmations instead of questions.
Those affirmations reveal that you didn't read the regulation.

If you don't want to participate nor don't have the courage to read the regulation, please don't make suppositions.

There is an e-mail in the regulation to were you can send your questions, and there is also a F.A.Q. contradicting your affirmations.

The voting is not THE decisioning factor, but it will help in the decision.
A contest for a CD cover, where the winner was the one with more friends, it would be ridiculous.
But you already know that, because you read the regulation...

I do read the rules and from the rules it come out clearly that even if in theory you may participate without a facebook account in practice you could not.

And more :
the contest  is for a CD cover, and to make a adapt cover for a musical CD you should at least listen a few of the songs that would be in the cd

BUT YOU CAN'T without a facebook account ( it is even requested that you FAV  first to enable listening...i prefer not comment the idea to fav something that you have not a chance to listen in order to listen it !)

More there is a very critical point in the rules:
by participating you give away all your right on your artworks

i can't quote the paragraph because i can't copy text from pdf, but is one of the point of the rules

the contest seems created to boost facebooks views and likes...and there is a chance that the contest author could recover his 200$ for the 1st prize, by selling the rights for the other submission

you can! there is a link within the fb page http://www.reverbnation.com/SamuelVelho it's rather smooth guitar music. as a guitarist i can say - not the worst in this genre. but the like button i don't like too  wink

to the license. in fact you give away the rights on images every time you upload to fb by confirming the terms of use of this platform.

don't have time to post a detailled statement, but this is a commercial project, so you have to be prepared for some "commercialisation". this is not so evil in principle .

i decided to participate even with no fb crowd behind  grin

Thank you for really reading the regulation.
PhotoComix, why you are saying that you read the regulation? If you read it, you find the link taurus66 found.
I will not fight against your lies, but I can help you achieve the truth. Try to make some questions and be less aggressive.

I didn't know that! Is that really true? If that is true about facebook, I'm truly sorry but it's too late to change the rules.
Although, your name will always be allied to the work you did. That info is in the regulation. Art and artists should be respected.

From the answers I'm reading in this post, there are a lot of Facebook haters. I don't understand why you focus total negativity on a social network site, it would be better if you focus positivity in real things.
I'm astonished by these aggressive replies, as I would really expect peace and joy from a community like this.
It as been proven by these answers that you are not truly interested about this contest, for not reading the regulation, misleading possible interested artists with false statements, and having this blind hate about facebook that prevents you from really reading the regulation correctly.
There are people participating, and they are peaceful, artistic, open minded, they read and understand, and if they don't, they make questions!
These are the people that interest to this kind of contest. They are participating.
I'm sorry, but I don't have time to word battles, and aggressive ego fighting.

Future false statements will no be contradicted by me again, and questions can be sent to the e-mail you can access, in the regulation.
If you are interested, you know what to do  wink
I wish you all the inspiration, and truly peace of mind.

I would be happy to explain in lengthy detail exactly why I totally boycott facebook, twitter, and even google!

It is not focusing my hatred to the exclusion of focusing positivity on things that deserve it - it is merely recognizing Pure Evil when I see it, and refusing to deal with it on any level  (further - to speak out against Evil is the Duty of Good People Everywhere!).

Since you gave the impression you wont be back, I'll skip all that, and simply state that YES - Facebook claims the rights to Every Image uploaded to their site.  To use however they see fit with no credits given to the originator  (thus your promise that "your name will always be allied to the work you did" is one you are in no position to keep if the image is posted on facebook.

Google are worse!  They tried to put a bit in the EULA for their Chrome Browser that they had the rights to anything posted on any site if their browser was used!!  That's true - Public Outrage caused them to remove that clause - but do you really want to have anything to do with people like that?

I do Not.

thanks Sockratease for confirming. i have no joy, reviewing the terms of use, to find the related paragraph and besides that it is generally known and criticised by noumerous security engineers. the dark side of the might...

As soon as I have the time, I will read the Terms about these companies. Your perspective looks scary, but it is a real menace to owner rights. But, in the other hand, I can understand that these companies have these rules more to prevent some damage to themselves then to steal property from others. Do you know of any case about a big company like facebook or google sewing artwork artists or stealing art works?

Also, if you want to ear money and opportunities considering what you do, why wouldn't you put your company logo, your property, on a facebook or google page?

Unfortunately I have to agree on the facebook issues. I avoid the site as much as possible and I use ad-block to block any facebook stuff placed on other websites. Same goes for google+, twitter, etc. and advertisements, because they too log data and spy on your behavior and are sometimes dangerous. I like the chrome browser, but instead I'm using SRware iron, which is exactly chrome but without privacy issues. I used to use scroogle as an alternative to google as a search engine, but unfortunately the owner shut down all of his websites, probably giving up the fight against google blocking the service all the time... Also I have some proxy servers in my bookmarks (anonymouse.org). I have the Tor client for extra protection when examining dangerous places. I use sandboxie to protect myself against harmful files getting installed and to make sure nothing is left behind after closing the browser window. And still I don't have a virusscanner and I'm using the standard windows firewall! Yeah, it takes much more than that to be safe.

Hy ...please relax, i was not aggressive toward you, neither i lie

I may have overseen that link allowing to hear the music without be a FB member but if so it was far to be evident

Not sure what relation you have with the contest holder (btw some songs are quite nice) but you should not feel offended because i remark some critical points, not even if you are his alter ego or a close friend

we may have different feelings and opinions without for that start a flaming war
(even if i must admit that calling me a liar, you really tempted me to show how heavily i may react to personal insults...
but we all could make mistakes so never mind , incident closed for me
)

Yeah, it takes much more than that to be safe.

Ok... I understand that everyone as the right to it's privacy, and no one likes to be controlled.
But this fear is completely unjustified. I mean, is like walking on the streets and be afraid someone will look at you.
Unless you are wanted and pursued for doing something illegal... if that is the case I understand the fear.

If you are really that concern about privacy issues, you should stop participating on forums.
To be a member of a forum, one needs to have a valid e-mail, and an IP. That could be a privacy issue, or a way from the site to prevent inside damage. You choose.

Chill out, guys... If you live in fear, you will never achieve what you want!

The deadline is extended to the last day of this week, 25!
