I was admonished for "necroposting" soon after joining.

Since I use ChaosPro the threads I look at are mostly long-dormant anyway
I don't know what else to do except post in the ChaosPro gallery.

As far as I know there are no rules against necroposting. As long as what you post is relevant for the topic.

There is a warning message that appears if nothing has been posted on a topic for more than 90 (I think) days. They have been implemented but they do not represent the rules that are made here on the forums. To be honest I have always ignored it after hearing there are no rules that prohibit it. tongue stuck out

Posting new topics in a section is always a good and should not be affected by those rules if they are there. If you really feel like you want to post your images in a different section I would suggest the "rate my fractal" section. But as I said, it is not required.

hehe, learned a new word today. smiley
I second redshiftrider.
Imho it's better to revive an old thread with relevant information or questions than to have these spread out over many threads.

Thanks for asking and not getting discouraged!

As said by all the others, Dredge up all the old topics you like if you have something to add!

I'm sorry somebody incorrectly admonished you for doing so.  Hopefully they know better than to do that sort of thing now.

I made an account here back in 2009 and made some posts, but when I tried to log in, my account had disappeared.  Wierd!  Wonder if my old posts have disappeared too.

I made an account here back in 2009 and made some posts, but when I tried to log in, my account had disappeared.  Wierd!  Wonder if my old posts have disappeared too.

At one point our Fearless Leader went through and intended to purge inactive accounts to make database space.

Instead of setting it to choose  accounts with zero posts and not logged in for however many years he decided was a good cut-off point, he forgot the bit about zero posts and just used the not logged in for "x" years.

A few real members got caught up in that   hurt

Apologies.

The posts should still be here, but may be attributed to "Guest" and not the name used to create them.

The site has had a few database and other issues over the years, and we are working on a brand new version which may become FractalForums Mark II - we'll all have to register new accounts at that point and this site will become a "read only" archive.

So Welcome Back   afro

And please accept our apologies for our Admin's error when deleting what he mistakenly thought to be inactive accounts.

Just to be clear, I thought necroposting was a weird sexual thing, and now that the forum is going to be an archive, away from prying eyes for all eternity, I feel like it's totally safe to mention that.

You may be confusing it with necroplooking.

A common mistake among Frank Zappa fans   afro

It's a paraphrasing of a phrase from Joe's Garage by Frank Zappa.

They had a mechanical sex toy called a Rotoplooker.

Joe broke it by plooking too hard.

I just changed Rotoplook to Necroplook because I thought everyone would get it    afro

See my entry in the last contest called The Central Scrutinizer for another Joe's Garage tribute.

I didn't expect so many people to wonder what it was, so I explained it.

I don't know if I should have stayed quiet or not...
