the submission period of the annual competition has ended now, the voting period now begins and lasts until end of june

the procedure works by giving each entry a star rating from 1 to 5 stars, the more votes are given the better the outcome

this year we have a total of 167 entries, thank you all for participating, now let the voting begin and start by visiting the

gallery

I have been trying to figure out HOW to vote.  I have been to the page for the contest and viewed entries but I do not see a way to vote and I am logged in.  I am not the only one several others are also trying to figure this out.  I would be voting for my favorite film for suere.

Me too, I don't see how to vote in this years contest. It was easy last year and obvious but I don't see where to vote at. I see where ratings were disabled, did they become where to vote at for this period of time or what?

Using the ratings system (the stars) has always been how we "vote" on images here.  We hope to get everyone to rate every image - but how you proceed is up to you.

Thank you, I figured it out and that's how I am doing it. It was different last year but that's ok as long as I get to do it. I always rate everyone. I keep getting booted out and have to resign in but I am determined to finish the films. I survived the Stills and the deep Mandelbrot bits and now just trying to get through the film section. Great work by everyone this year!! It has been fun to see all you have done. Good luck!

I tried and got a box saying that the stars would be hidden until the end of the competition. I have not voted yet so that is what was confusing to me. the piece I was voting on I would give the max number of stars, though.

Yesterday and today I spent several hours voting on all submissions in the three galleries. This is the least I can do.

As always, there are some pretty beautiful and inspiring works. So, the hours spent for voting are definitely not wasted in vain.

I wish good luck to all contest participants; and want to urge the other members - please vote; and finally, I want to thank the organizers and the sponsors.

No worries about that. After you have voted that message will appear.

Thanks for doing so. Active voters are the people we need for the contest.

Yes, as TheRedshiftRider said, the actual ratings remain hidden until after the contest.  That way existing ratings don't influence other members to rate higher or lower.

Think of it as an anonymous voting system.

You did rate it, then saw the message, right?

You can only rate any given item once, so it will be inactive after rating.  Try another image and see if this is what is happening.

No, I did not rate it.  I tried to.  It is not a big deal and I understand that if I had already voted that the rating would be hidden until the end, but I do not think I got to vote at all.  Anyway, I do know now how it should work so I can vote on others too.

You can contact one of us via a private message if you want to. We will be able to check whether the voting has worked.

Hi.

I believe that I have successfully voted on all entries (except my own, naturally) in the competition this year.  A first for me, as I usually have real life get in the way and cannot complete it.

Is there any quick and easy way to find out if I have missed any?

To go back and forward through the list one entry at a time just to see sounds like too much of a chore to me, but if there's a way to see quickly if I've missed any that would be so helpful.

If not, maybe it's something that can be worked on (by some skilled coders) for next time.

To anyone viewing my posts and finding missing/broken links to a website called www.needanother.co.uk, I still own the domain but recently cancelled my server (saving £30/month) so even though the domain address exists, it points nowhere.  I hope to one day sort something out but for now - sorry!
